Congratulations to the Hanover Wildcat Football Team on being named our athletes of the week!
Hanover was the preseason #1 team and held that ranking all the way up to the 8-Man DI State Title Game Saturday in Newton. Even though the Wildcats fell just short of their 4th football state championship, falling to #2 and undefeated Central Plains 42-30, the Wildcats had a tremendous season. They finished 12-1, won the TVL League title, point ruled 9 of their 13 opponents, and defeated defending state champion Osborne twice in 16 days. Hanover scored 754 points (58 ppg) this season, 6 points shy of the 8-man record of 760 points set by Osborne last year. The Wildcats were tough to stop on offense because of their balance as they rushed for 206 yards per game and passed for 165 yards per contest. Hanover had 9 first team All-League and 3 second team All-League performers this season!
