Congratulations to the Valley Heights' sophomore Brandy Roepke, junior Sidney Blackburn, and freshman Shelby Vermetten along with Clifton-Clyde freshman Kourtni Hubert for being named the Athletes of the Week!

The Valley Heights trio were the only Lady Mustangs to qualify for the State Track & Field Meet, but they proved quality sometimes is better than quantity as they combined to have eight top 5 finishes. The dynamic trio scored 62 team points and brought home the 1A State Championship back to Valley Heights. Roepke won the long jump (17'2 1/4), took 2nd in the 100 & 200 meter dashes, and 3rd in the 400 meter dash. It was the second straight year that Roepke brought home 4 medals from State!  Blackburn won the state title in the discus (113'1) and finished 5th in the shot put. Vermetten placed 2nd behind Blackburn in the discus and took 2nd in the shot put (37'10). The scary thing to ponder for future competitors...All three of these Lady Mustangs return next year!!!

Hubert started on varsity in both volleyball and basketball this year for Clifton-Clyde as a freshman and capped her wonderful freshman campaign with a gold medal at the State Track & Field Championships in Wichita winning the 1A girls javelin with a throw of 131'7".
