Congratulations to Valley Height's Gage Woodyard for being named the athlete of the week!
Woodyard, a junior, scored in double figures three straight league games to finish the regular season and helped lead the Valley Heights boys to a league title. Gage scored 13 last Friday against B&B, followed by 21 Monday at Blue Valley, and then scored 18 the next night at Axtell. On the season Gage is averaging 10 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and those numbers would be a lot higher if the Mustangs weren't so balanced as senior Charles Musil averages 11 points and 9.5 rebounds, senior Derek Trimble 10.5 points and 6 rebounds, and junior Elijah Smith averages 10.5 points.
If you would like to nominate an athlete of the week brought to you by United Bank & Trust, email us at email@example.com or text us at 785-294-0295. Please give a short reason why you are nominating that particular athlete.
We will announce the winner each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any high school sport.
