Congratulations to the Hanover Wildcats & Centralia Lady Panthers for being named the United Bank & Trust Athletes of the Week!

Hanover claimed their 5th boys basketball state title this past weekend at the 1A-DI State Tournament in Emporia.  It was their first championship since 2010.  The Wildcats cruised through the state tournament, winning their games by an average of 69-36.  They opened with a 83-37 win over Pretty Prairie, then beat Hartford 67-35 in the semis.  In the state title game on Saturday night, they defeated fellow TVL school Doniphan West for the third time this season, winning 58-36.
The Centralia Lady Panthers also put together a solid state tournament run in 1A-DI.  As the #7 seed, they beat 2nd seeded Waverly in the first round 70-55, then knocked off #3 seed St. Paul in the semis, 48-31.  Centralia then faced top-seeded Hoxie in the championship game.  They held a 13-9 lead on Hoxie after the first quarter, but the Lady Indians prevailed in the end, 67-53 to claim their 4th straight title and 95th consecutive overall win.  Centralia finished as the 1A-DI runner-up, which was a solid finish for a group that overcame some injuries, a concussion and sickness.
