Congratulations to Sabetha's running back duo of Brett Plattner and Kegan Schumann on being named our athletes of the week! 

Both backs eclipsed the 1000 yard mark in rushing during the last week of the regular season.. Schumann passed the magical barrier with
a 161 yard rushing effort in the Bluejays 34-7 victory over Horton, while Plattner surpassed the mark with a 204 yard effort in Sabetha's 28-8
playoff victory over Nemaha Central. Schumann now has 1,141 yards, 12 touchdowns and averages 6.7 yards per carry on the season. He
also leads the Bluejays with 113 tackles and handles the Sabetha punting duties (including 3 downed inside the 20 vs. Nemaha Central).
Plattner averages 8.4 yards per carry and has 1,099 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season while contributing 58 tackles and 2
interceptions on defense and leading the team in kickoff and punt return yardage.

Congratulations to the State Champion Centralia Panthers and Washington County Tigers on being named our athletes of the week! 

The now 12 time State Champion Centralia Lady Panthers successfully defended their title by going 5-0 at Hays including a semifinal win over Waverly and then knocked off the top seed and undefeated Goessel 17-25, 25-15, 25-13. The Lady Panthers finished the season with a 44-1 record. They finished the season on a 42 match winning streak with their only loss of the year coming to 2A State-runner up Wabunsee early in the season. The Panthers have now won 12 state volleyball state titles. (1994, 1997,1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2013, 2014. 

2A State Champion Washington County Lady Tigers won the 2A title for the 2nd time in 3 years as they went 5-0 at Emporia including a 3 set semifinal victory over Central Plains and then an exciting 25-23, 26-24 win over Wabunsee for the State Championship. The Lady Tigers finished the season at 39-4 with their 4 losses to state ranked teams. 2 of their losses to Centralia, a loss to the 4A DII State Champion, Clay Center, and a loss to 3A state ranked Beloit.
