Riley Suther came in and pitched 2 1/3 taking the loss and while giving up 4 runs on 2 hits. Derek Surdez pitched the final out for us. Hitting for leaders for the day: Tyler Heiman 2-3 and 2 runs scored, Derek Surdez 2-4 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, Patrick Bramhall 1-2 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored, Nathan Hollis 2-4 3 RBI's and a run scored, and Riley Suther 3-4 with a RBI.
Against Atchison we won both games the first by a score of 6-3 and the second by a score of 15-7. David Heideman got the win in the first pitching 6 innings giving 3 runs on 3 hits. Nathan Hollis picked up the save pitching a scoreless 7th. Hitting in leaders were: Derek Surdez 3-4 with a RBI and 2 runs scored, Nathan Hollis was 1-3 with a 2 out 2 RBI double that knotted the game up in the 4th at 2. He was then singled in by Ben Steinlage who was 1-2 at the plate to break the tie. We added 3 in the 5th on singles from Phillip Steinlage, Dylan Kramer, and Surdez. Steinlage scored on Surdez's single, Kramer scored on Wade Ahlvers sac fly, and Surdez scored on a double from Patrick Bramhall 1-2.
In the second game Hollis picked up the win coming in relief of Dylan Kramer who pitched three innings giving up 6 unearned runs. Hollis pitched the last 3 giving up 1 run. Glatczak was 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBI's in our 6 run 4th inning where we took the lead and never looked back. We scored 3 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, 6 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th, and 2 in the 6th to end the game early. Other hitting stats: Patrick Bramhall 1-3 with 3 RBI's, Tyler Teske 1-1 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
Overall I thought we played well but we need to make plays defensively and stop walking people and giving up free bases. We are 4-1 and lucky. We have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and quit playing from behind all of the time. We will keep working and getting better every game.
