The Centralia American Legion Baseball team remained perfect in Northeast Kansas League play with a 20-7 victory at Holton on Wednesday night. The game ended in the sixth inning after Centralia scored eight runs in the frame. They had a 9-7 lead going into the fifth when a trio of unearned runs scored on a dropped infield fly.
Centralia led 2-0 thanks to a home run by Nathan Hollis in the first but Holton answered with a two-out rally and Dylan Bowser cranked a gland slam before Devon Long went deep to give Holton a 5-2 advantage for their only lead. Centralia answered with seven runs in the second and Hollis took over the pitching tossing three plus innings of two hit ball in relief without allowing a run. Derek Surdez added a grand slam in the sixth inning and totaled six RBIs while Patrick Bramhall and Hollis each had three hits and Joe Olberding and Philip Steinlage scored three runs apiece.
Centralia improves to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in league play while Holton drops to 1-3 in the league and 4-5 overall with their third straight loss. Dalton Harshaw had two hits and RBIs for Holton.
