DONIPHAN COUNTY WINS FIRST TRITSCH TOURNEY TITLE

The Doniphan County legion baseball team won the Tritsch Tournament for the first time in Hiawatha on Monday night. Post 55 defeated Centralia 9-2 at Noble Park to improve to 10-1 on the year with their third victory against Post #216. Centralia had beat Marysville 12-2 to advance to the title contest.
 
In game one, Centralia scored four runs on four hits in the first and never looked back ending the game in the fourth inning. Derek Surdez allowed just three hits and struck out five for the win while Patrick Bramhall and Dylan Kramer each homered and were joined by Wade Ahlvers and Nathan Hollis with a multi-hit game. Marysville finished third at the tournament and is now 9-3 on the season after their second loss to Centralia in the Tritsch competition.

Centralia got their rematch against Doniphan County but Post 55 scored six run on four consecutive hits in the second inning and held on for the win. Following three free passes by Bramhall, Brennen Wehner and Elliot Nold each singled and Colin Greaser and Justin Hawkins delievered two run base hits to put DC ahead for good. Jared Hawkins pitched four innings of two hit ball and Wehner also allowed just two hits in the final three frames. Surdez had two hits for Centralia who falls to 13-5 on the year with a third loss to Doniphan County. Both teams remain undefeated in Northeast Kansas League competition.
