Northeast Kansas Sports.com and United Bank & Trust have teamed up to recognize area athletes with our weekly feature called Athlete of the Week.
This week's Athlete of the Week was very difficult to determine with many high quality nominations. But two seemed to stand out just a hair, and thus, for the first time, we have co-athletes of the week!
This week's Athlete(s) of the Week are junior Tamera Stallbaumer of Sabetha and sophomore Austin Eckert of ACCHS.
Stallbaumer and Eckert were instrumental in helping their teams win their mid-season tourneys and both were named the MVP of their tourneys.

Stallbaumer led the now 11-2 Sabetha Bluejays to the Burlington Invitational Championship, averaging 14 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She saved her best for the biggest game, tallying 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting in the title game against Topeka-Hayden. She had 12 points in the semifinals and 11 in the the 1st Round and to top it off, she guarded the other team's best players and held them in check.
Eckert averaged 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during the JCN tournament and did that in games that ACCHS had wrapped up well before the final buzzer. Eckert shot a sizzling 60% from three point land (15-25) for the tournament and although a sophomore, he has been a solid leader on and off the court.
Congratulations to Northeast Kansas Sports.com's athletes of the week, junior Tamera Stallbaumer of Sabetha and sophomore Austin Eckert of ACCHS.
