"We felt worse about that loss than the guys that were out there playing," Jueneman said. "We knew if we were out there, it could have been different."
Both Nicholson, Jueneman and Chad Alexander were back on the court for the Wildcats in Tuesday's rematch at No. 3 Baileyville, and this time they were able to do something about avoiding a second loss to the Falcons.
Nicholson hit a game-tying 3-pointer with four seconds left to force overtime and Jueneman scored 11 of his 16 points in the extra period as No. 4 Hanover avenged its only defeat with a thrilling 66-64 overtime victory.
Even with its trio of starters back after serving a five-game suspension, Hanover was in serious danger. After leading by as much as 11 in the first half, the Wildcats were down 50-47 with 30 seconds to play and 52-49 with 10.9 seconds left.
But after Ryan Huerter's two free throws gave Baileyville its three-point lead, Hanover still had a chance and they cashed in. Even if it was the wrong play.
Nicholson got the ball from Austin Steinfort and with Kyle Haverkamp's hand in his face, stuck a 3-pointer from the top of the key to send the game to overtime.
"I really didn't want to shoot over Haverkamp, but someone had to take it," Nicholson said. "That wasn't the play we had set up, but the play we had drawn up wasn't going to work. I just shot it and got lucky."
After Nicholson got the Wildcats to overtime, Jueneman took over. He hit a 3-pointer on Hanover's first possession and then another two trips later as the Wildcats stormed out to a 61-55 lead. As he had all game, Haverkamp kept the Falcons in it, scoring on a three-point play with 42 seconds left to cut the deficit to three.
But Jueneman hit 5 of 6 free throws in the last 30 seconds and Hanover was able to survive despite two late 3-pointers from Huerter and Haverkamp, the last at the buzzer to close the final margin.
Haverkamp had hit a huge 3-pointer off a double screen with 49 seconds left in the fourth quarter that gave Baileyville a 48-47 lead and then made two free throws to push the edge to three. He finished with a game-high 31 points, hitting 5 of 8 3-pointers and 10 of 22 shots overall.

The combination of Kendra Zabokrtsky inside and Allison Bruna everywhere else lifted Hanover to its second straight road win, coming on the heels of a big victory at Centralia last Friday.
Zabokrtsky owned the paint, scoring 15 points and grabbing 16 rebounds for a double-double. When she wasn't carrying the load, Bruna did, also scoring 15 points, including four in a 6-0 spurt to start the fourth quarter that erased a one-point Baileyville lead.
But Baileyville rallied late and took the lead when Abby Schmitz drained a 3-pointer for the last of her game-high 17 points and Kayla Strathman followed it with a three-point play at 1:41 to give the Falcons a 40-39 edge.
Hanover went back to Zabokrtsky, who was fouled and made two free throws with 1:16 left to put the Wildcats up for good. Hanover made 7 of 8 free throws in the last 1:16 .
