There were several NEK Legion games in action last night. 

 

Sabetha played last night and won against Falls City 4-1. 
Dustin Lara was on the mound and only allowed two hits 
through 6 1/3 innings to collect his second win of the year. 
Tate Steinlage pitched 2/3 for his first save of the year for
Sabetha. As for Falls City, Logan Faller only allowed five hits 
and three earned runs, but gets stuck with the loss. 
Out of those five hits, McKenzie McAfee had two of them. 
Sabetha finishes regular season play at 19-9 with a 5-5 
league record, placing them fifth overall in the league. 
Sabetha also has won 12 of its last 14 games heading into
their zone tournament. Falls City finishes 17-8 with an 
8-4 league record, that puts them second in the league, 
and they also lost three of their last four games.
Also in action last night was Holton, who squeezed by 
Ozawkie, 12-11 in nine innings. Holton picked up a much 
needed win after losing six games in a row. Holton 
finishes their regular season 7-15 with a 3-9 league 
record, which puts them in seventh place in the league.
Doniphan County hosted Centralia and ended up winning 
10-3. Elliot Nold picked up the win and Jared Hawkins 
came in for the save. Bryce Paden also had two hits 
with two RBI's for Doniphan County. As for Centralia,
Phil Steinlage pitched 5 1/3innings and allowed four 
runs in his loss. Centralia finishes the season 4-12 
with a 2-7 league record that puts them dead last in
the league and also ends the season on a seven game 
losing streak. As for Doniphan County, they finish the
season on a five game win streak and finish 13-7 with 
a 7-3 league record that puts them in third place.
In the final game of the night, Atchison hosted Hiawatha. 
Hiawatha picks up their third win of the week, winning 
against Atchison 3-2. Brendon Bock pitched seven innings 
and only allowed one earned run and recorded four strikeouts. 
Taylor Olson struck out Atchison's lead off hitter with 
the tying run at third to end the game. Olson also picked 
up his second save of the season. Hiawatha scored three 
runs in the fifth off no hits. Gabe Noll scored the eventual
winnings run on a passed ball. As for Atchison, Brett Norris
picked up the loss. Atchison finishes the season 5-13 with 
a 3-8 league record and they finished sixth in the league. 
 
As for Hiawatha, they still have a game in Marysville tonight
at 7:30, which is the last regular season game. Hiawatha is 
10-11 with a 6-5 league record and finishes fourth in the league.
Teams are now gearing up for Zone play, which will be hosted 
by Sabetha starting this Sunday, July 18th. Seneca goes in 
as the number one seed and Sabetha goes in as the number two 
seed. Both teams have a first round bye.

Dustin Lara allowed only 2 hits thru 6 1/3 innings to
collect his second win of the year.  Tate Steinlage pitched the final 2/3 for his first save of the year.  Logan Faller only allowed 5 hits and 3 earned runs in a tough luck loss.
 
McKenzie McAfee had 2 of Sabetha's 5 hits.  Sabetha finishes
regular season play at 19-9 and 5-5.  Sabetha has won 12 
of its last 14 games heading into their zone tournament.

There were several NEK Legion games in action last night.

Airing last night on Kanzaland Radio was Sabetha at Holton. On the mound for Sabetha was Riley Wells, who gave up no runs on 3 hits, 7 strikeouts, and 2 walks in 3 2/3 innings. Subway Player of the Game McKenzie McAfee, of Sabetha, was 3-3 with 3 runs and 2 RBI. Brock Boldra also had a good game for Sabetha going 3-3 with 2 runs and 3

RBI. Dustin Lara contributed 2 runs from the ninth spot in the order. Sabetha tallied 13 hits total.

 

Dylan Bowser was the starting pitcher for Holton giving up 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 3 earned in 1 2/3 innings of work. Holton pitched a total of three pitchers in four innings, walking 8 batters as a whole. Jackson Delay had Holton's only extra base hit, with a double in the 3rd inning. Holton also committed 4 errors in their sixth straight loss. The final score through four innings was Sabetha 16, Holton 0.

Sabetha is now 18-9 overall, 4-5 in league. Holton comes out 6-15 overall, with a league record of 3-9.

 

 

FallsCity visited Seneca last night to determine the NEK league champion. For Seneca, Derek Rottinghaus gets the win in a complete game shutout with 3 singles allowed. Eric Huerter provided one of the Seneca runs with a solo home run. Trent Scheitel pitched for FallsCity going the distance in the loss. The final tally was Seneca 2, FallsCity 0. NEK regular season champs, Seneca, finish the season 14-5 overall, 8-1 in league. FallsCity finishes with an 8-3 league record, 17-7 overall.

 

 

Also in action last night Post 66 Hiawatha defeated Ozawkie 7-4. Hiawatha starter Nate Deforest allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits in 7 innings pitched. Taylor Olson was 2-3 with 2 RBI, Tanner Smith was 2-4, Jordan Marable went 2-5 with 3 stolen bases,and Gabe Noll was 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Hiawatha is now 9-11 overall, with their last game before Zone play being at Atchison.

In the final game of the night, Atchison hosted Centralia. Atchison came out the victors in a 9-1 game. Derek Henry took the loss. Centralia had bases loaded with one out twice, but no runs were scored. Centralia has lost 6 straight, dropping their record to 4-11 overall, 2-6 in league. Atchison has won 2 of their last 3 games improving to 5-12 overall, 3-7 in league.

 

 

Teams are now gearing up for Zone play, which will be hosted by Sabetha, starting Sunday. Seneca goes in as the number one-seed, Sabetha also has a first round bye as the two-seed.

Sabetha scored 10 runs in the first inning to cruise to a 16-1 victory in Game 1.  Sabetha had 13 hits in the game with Reid & Ross Bruggeman, Isaac Russell and Trey McCluskey collecting a pair of hits.  Brock Boldra hit a two-run homer in the first.
 
July 14th: Game 2
 
Rock Creek 6  Sabetha 2
 
JD Garretson fanned 15 hitters and allowed only 3 hits in leading Rock Creek to a 6-2 twinbill split.
   
Atchison 6  Sabetha 1

Hunter Olberding pitched a complete game leading Atchison to a 6-1
victory.  Olberding allowed only 4 hits and struck out 10 batters and
Atchison scored 5 runs in the first to take early command.
