With all 3 boys teams winning on Wednesday we will look at the matchups for the semi-finals.
Sabetha- The Blue Jays were able to beat the defending state champs in a thrilling 43-40 overtime win. It was an impressive win to say the least, but it was even more impressive being that Brock Frey fouled out in regulation and Calder Keehn followed suit in overtime. Sabetha now will face Garden Plain (20-4) as the Owls upset Fredonia. The Owls are stingy defensively holding their opponents to just 38.3 points per game heading into the tournament. Offensively they are lead by Seniors Zach May and Alex Becker who average 11.7 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. The Owls were down 17-4 early but got hot and outscored Fredonia 49-22 in the second half. The Blue Jays will have to continue their defensive intensity and look to convert better from the free throw line as they were just 12-24 in the opener.
My Pick: Sabetha 40-36
Hanover & Centralia- It's the matchup everyone wanted to see after KSHSAA released the brackets on Sunday morning. The Wildcats and Pathers will meet for the 3rd time after splitting in the regular season. Hanover was able to advance over St. Paul in a 61-40 game while the Panthers took down Pretty Prairie 58-42. The Wildcats will look to do work from behind arc as they have all year and as they did on Wednesday as they hit 7 in their win. The Panthers on the flip side will look inside as both John Johnson and Dustin Talley had strong games in the quarterfinal. The Panthers will look to slow down Will Bruna and Trey Lohse as both have had big games in the first two meetings. The Wildcats will focus on Braden Deters, Johnson, and Talley as all have had solid preformances during the regular season. This has the making of a championship matchup but it's in the semi-finals.
My Pick: Centralia 58-55
