The Atchison legion baseball team strengthened their lead in the Northeast Kansas League standings on Wednesday night with a 5-1 victory against Sabetha.
The game was called in the fifth inning because of lightning and rain. The A's broke a 1-1 tie by scoring three times in the third in support of Matt Minnis who allowed only three hits. Mitch Allen had two hits for Sabetha who falls to 5-3 in the league and 13-7 overall. Jeremiah Lautz was 3-3 with a pair of doubles for Atchison as they stand at 8-2 in the league and 15-4 overall.
Seneca received a forfeit win as FallsCity didn't have enough players to make the trip and travel to Swisher Field for their league contest Wednesday night.
Centralia and DoniphanCounty barely got started before rains in Wathena and will make up their game Thursday, July 10th.
