Congratulations to Courtney Heinen and Kiersten Talbot on being named the Northeast Kansas Sports Athletes of the Week.

Courtney Heinen and Kiersten Talbot of the Axtell Eagles have both accomplished something that does not happen that often in high school sports. The pair of them have both scored over a 1000 points in their careers. Courtney accomplished the feat on February 9th against the Pawnee City, NE Indians in a 69-24 win. In that contest she scored 18 points which is right on par with what she has been doing all year as she is averaging 18 points per game this season. Kiersten had to wait a few more games as she surpassed the 1000 point plateau on February 16th in a 62-22 win over the Doniphan West Mustangs. In that game Kierstan scored a season high 23 points. On the season she is averaging 11.8 points per game. The duo has led the Lady Eagles to 16-3 record and the #9 ranking in the KBCA Class 1ADII Rankings.
