Congratulations to Tyler Price and Justin Rieschick of the Holton Wrestling Team on being named the Northeast Kansas Sports Athletes of the Week.
Tyler Price headed into the State Tournament 39-6 in the 152 pound weight class. On Friday he be stag a pair of wins by fall. The first coming just 21 seconds into his matchup against Chris Stell of Fort Scott. He would then face Trey Hoerner of Abilene and win by fall at the 1:22 mark. On Saturday in the semi-finals he would face Reno Hughey of El Dorado and win by an 11-4 decision. In the Championship he would lose a 7-5 decision to Hunter Mullin of Clay Center in a match that took overtime. Tyler finishes his junior campaign as State Runner-Up an improvement on the 4th place finish a year ago. To view Tyler's matches click the link below.
Justin Rieschick entered the State Tournament 40-5 in the 145 pound weight division. He would win a pair of matches on Friday to secure a top 4 finish beating Conrad Vajnar of Hay 11-3 then taking down Dacota Motter of El Dorado in a 7-5 decision. Saturday he would win a close decision 3-2 over Zarek Fewell to advance to the championship match. There he would face Anthony Scantlin of Mulvane where he would eventually lose in a 4-2 decision. He finishes his high school career as a 4 time state medalist and the State Runner-Up. To view Justin's matches click below to watch them.
